Read this blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.
While reading this blog post, The teacher writes "I care about you more than you may care about yourself. And I care not just about your grades or your test scores, but about you as a person. And, because I care, I need to be honest with you." Looking back through all four years of high school, I have never really had a teacher like this, that actually said they cared for me as a person. If I had a teacher like this I feel like I would like school a little more. I am not just saying this to just say it. I am saying it because some people in school don't have friends or they don't have anyone to talk to. If a teacher actually told me or any other person that they actually truly cared for them as a person, I think there would be a lot less "quitting" and "skipping" among students.
I think the author tries to say that you yourself is the "main event" and you have to keep trying, pick yourself up, and work through it, because no one is going to do it for you. You choose the life you live.
